A rainy crummy day. So, I can’t get outside and do anything. Stuck in the house for working out. I went on the treadmill today- yippee. Problem is - it’s in the creepy, messy, cobwebbed basement and I HATE going down there! You’d think it would make me run faster…but I just don’t like it. I need a radio or something down there maybe. I get so bored. Then I start taking notice of how far I’ve run. Other than that, I did do the 40min dvd for Turbo Jam.

On a positive note- I got a fairly newer style STATIONARY bike for FREE!!! From www.freecycle.org . So, as soon as I get my stuff out of the other side of the basement (the cleaner side), then I can put all the workout equipment in there. I have the treadmill and a stepper as well as some weights and weight benches. Oh, and punching bags, tons of jump ropes, etc… Most of which I got for free either from someone giving it away or from the ….. DUMP!! my other favorite place for free stuff!!

Here’s how I did today. Still - the eating thing. It’s amazing how many calories are in the foods we eat. I mean, I ate Taco Bell with all those calories and all I really had was 2 measly tacos and the apple pie. That’s sick!!

I almost wish I lived in the days when “voluptuous” women were “in style”!! (too bad the food sucked back then!!). Now we have good fattening food and shouldn’t eat it!!  The irony.

So, it sounds ok up till this point. But alas, I still have to go to work. And you know how that it— tons of snacks. I think I’ll just bring veggies for dinner. Birds Eye makes these frozen veggies w/ some herbs and stuff in them and you just microwave them - not too bad. I have to go to the store and get some Slim Fast shakes to take to work. Maybe Ill have time to stop there on the way in.

Tuesday 7/11….

OK- not a very productive day in terms of fitness. I ate decent though-

  • breakfast- 1/3 cup Lucky Charms with 1/2 cup skim milk. (150cal total)  (I like junky cereals, can you tell??) I’ll eat the healthier stuff, but I don’t like it as much and it has more calories anyway…. rn
  • Lunch- Chicken breast with pesto hummus. (140 cal) ( 70cal for the hummus) About 1/4 cup tomato salad with a SMALL pc of Italian bread to dip in the oil/vinegar. (100cal) rn
  • Dinner- 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese (80cal) with 1 pc of multi grain bread (130cal) and polaner all fruit blueberry (40cal) on it. - rn
  • Snack- Here’s where I screwed up as usual- Cheese dip- NOT the recommended 2 Tbsp serving, nope- more like 6 tbsp!! at 40 cal /2 =120 calories - WITH Tostitos. Those are about 130 cal for 7 whole chips. Of course, the chips are Never WHOLE!! So, I am going to say I had about 7 WHOLE ones. For a total of 250calories.  And a grand total of about 960calories. oh, plus the 1 Tbsp peanut butter I had which is like 95 calories. So that brings it up to 1055cal. I drank diet soda X2 which has no calories. ( I don’t usually drink soda at all, but it was there….)Oh shoot, forgot the bread too, how convenient!! That adds another 80cal or so bringing the total to 1135calories. (I knew it was too good to be true!! )

Now that all sounds so wonderful, except that I did NOTHING physical today!! I was up till about 4:30am this morning cuz I couldn’t sleep, so I ended up sleeping in till about 11am. Then got up and did some errands and took a nap for about 2 hrs. Now it’s after 8pm and I haven’t worked out yet. So…I am going to do a Turbo Jam dvd at least and maybe some weights. Let you know how it goes!!

Update: I ended up doing Turbo Jam “burn” dvd. (It’s a short one) and did about 15 minutes of the Turbo Jam sculpt dvd. I suppose at least I got something in!!

Another Fabulous Day!! Yeah!!

OK- Monday came and went and I didn’t do half bad!!

Food intake consisted approximatly of the following:

  • Breakfast- Lucky Charms (measured) w/ skim milk (measured)

  • Lunch- Hometown Buffet– not so good. I stuck with the healthiest stuff there, but had a little too much. I had 2 plates total. the worst things on the plates were about 1/2 cup mashed potatoes w/ gravy and about 1/3 cup mac and cheese. everything else was a veggie/salad/ etc. w/ low cal dressing - italian, and some other healthy stuff. Oh, and had a diet coke (yuck).

  • Dinner- 1 chicken breast grilled - cut into pcs and dipped into pesto hummus.

  • dessert- 2 tbsp peanut butter and a pc of multi grain bread w/ some polaner all fruit (blueberry). (Actually the peanut butter has like 190 calories and the bread has 130calories. The all fruit only has like 60 I think. But basically, it wasn’t a really great choice.) I have to cut out the Peanut butter I think.

Now for the Workouts-

Here, I did much better-

First, I did the 40min. Turbo Jam dvd Cardio Party. Awesome.

Then I went swimming for about 30 minutes. (didn’t swim the whole time though. I have the baby, so I have to push him along in his floatie thing.)

Finally, I took the kids to the park and ran/ walked on the track. I alternated and ended up running 3 times around and walking 2 times around.

My legs are killing me. I was so out of breath by the time I got half way around the damn thing. And I quit smoking in May. My lung capacity is shot!! My endurance sucks. If I want to even consider running a 5K, I am going to have to really get my butt up there regularly!!

Hopefully I won’t be out of commission for tomorrow!! I would like to take the kids bike riding. We’ll see how it goes!!

Sunday, Sunday!!

Turned out to be a great day as I expected!! Rode bikes with all the kids and DH for about 1 mile plus! I got a little winded at times!! Then did 20min Turbo Jam dvd- LOVE it!! And got in the pool. Did some laps but mostly just walked the perimeter. Those damn ant things keep getting in there and I am psychotic about fishing them all out with the net thing. Grosses me out.

Eating well thus far today too. Skipped breakfast cuz there wasn’t any good cereal.

Perricone diet stresses the blueberries, cantalopes, salmon, etc. so I try to incorporate those. Don’t care for salmon though.

I am a bit nervous however, as we are supposed to be going out w/ some friends later tonight. - to a place that is a bar/ restaurant. And of course, it isn’t the kind of restaurant that serves healthy fare- I should be so lucky!! Nope, this is an Irish place with Irish food. And it’s really GOOD= and probably really FATTENING. I may do another quick workout before we go. Even if I don’t eat anything or make healthy choices - then you still have the calories in the beer I would like to drink. ( I work almost every day and rarely have a day and night off together!! Consequently, I don’t generally drink alchohol at all….)

Another Great day!!

Hey everyone!!

Another sunny day!! yeah! I’m going to head out and ride bikes with the kids. Nothing major. Then I’ll come back home, workout and jump in the pool.

Oh- Turbo Jam- very cool. I love it! The first Cardio dvd that I can actually mostly follow!! ( I am completely UNcoordinated). Much more fun than Tai Bo I think.

Turbo Jam finally got here!!

OK- That turbo jam finally arrived today!! yeah! I hope it’s as good as they say it is! I have to head off to work now, so I’ll take it with me and read through everything tonight. When I get home tomorrow, Ill give it a shot!!

Other than that, I went in the pool and did some laps today. Past two days I did my own workout with some hand weights, stretching, and tons of abs and push-ups.

HaPpY fOuRtH!!

Ok, Today has been a pretty good day. For starters, I lost 2 lbs. And that’s ALWAYS good!!  I’ve eaten pretty well today. Special K cereal, a Slim Fast shake, 2 tacos from the TexasTaco place, and I think that’s it!! (of course, I realize the days not over yet….). I worked out for 30minutes too. No pool today- it was muggy, but raining on and off. So, I did about 15 minutes of the Denise Austin Shrink your Female Fat zones dvd. (I can’t stomach her that much, too perky). Then I just did my own thing with the weights, abs, arms, etc. I can’t wait for those Turbo Jam dvd’s to come! I need more cardio!!

Now, hopefully the rest of the day will be decent. I got called in to work tonight at my other job. Not too bad, mostly healthy snacks there.

July is here…

OK, July is here. Which means that half the year is already over and I still can’t fit into 98% of the clothing that I own. It sucks. However, I refuse to go out and start buying larger sizes. (although, now that I think about it, Murphy’s law might just kick in here!) After all, I got snowboarding gear for all my kids and myself about 4 years ago and since then, the winters have been fairly mild here for the most part. Then, this year I bought a pool, and wouldn’t you know it- RAIN!! So, maybe if I DID buy those bigger clothes, I’d drop weight faster….. If only it were that easy…

In any case, I did pretty good at work last night. I had a small portion of a chef salad. Of course, I balanced it out with some blue cheese dressing. But certainly not as much as I would’ve liked to. I would have LIKED to just suck down that blue cheese right out of the little container that it came it…but I refrained. I had about 240cc of ginger ale. 480cc of grape juice -BAD, I know. But NO snacks. No coffee. No over-eating. I was kinda busy, so I guess that helped. Then this morning I had a bowl of Special K w/ the strawberries. (good) with whole milk (bad). But believe me, that’s a tremendous improvement for me.

Now for the workout- yesterday I did “running” in the pool cuz I had to hold the baby. I did enough “laps” to amount to about 1/4 of a mile. Then I did get to do some laps with regular swimming after he got out. Today I am headed to the pool for more swimming. Then I am going to try out the jogging stroller with the baby and probably go for a walk/jog. Or do the pilates dvd. depends on how the weather holds up. Still waiting for those Turbo Jam dvd’s. Confirmation email said about 7-10 days from today.

Other than that, the only other dvd’s I have now are the winsor pilates, the 8minute abs/legs/buns/arms set, and Budokon. All of which I like, but I get sooo bored, sooo quickly. OH, and I just rented one from netflix that came in! maybe Ill just do that one. It’s Shrink your female fat zones. My sister, the personal trainer/nutrition freak, recommended it. And since she’s as thin as rail, it would probably do me good to follow a bit of her advice.

Workout options for today!

Well, yesterday actually turned out to be pretty good. The sun finally came out and we were able to get into the pool and do some laps. That was cool. In addition to that, I did some working out in the house during the day. The diet went well too. Minimal “picking” at work last night! yeah….Now to keep it up! Let’s see what today brings… If it brightens up a bit, I’ll get some swim time in. I think I’ll do a pilates dvd today. OH- And I ordered the Turbo Jam dvd’s today. I was leary about it because I read poor reviews about the customer service. (people not getting their product at all or in a timely fashion and being overcharged on their credit card). So, I ended up ordering it on —- QVC!!! Good ole QVC, a very bad addiction!! So, I’ll let you know how they are and if they’re actually worth the money.

Another dreary day…..

Hi everyone!

Another dreary day in good ole’ CT!! More rain! That means I’m stuck with only 2 options- go to the gym which I HATE. I mean, I’m ok once I get there, but it’s the getting there that I don’t like much!! Or, work out with video’s which bores me quickly. I guess it’s the videos. Damn. I can ‘t wait for the nicer weather!! I’d much rather swim laps, walk/hike, or bike ride.

I’ve been doing better on the diet aspect though! Really making more of an effort to decrease my carb intake. I’ll take a shake to work for later. And hopefully, I won’t PICK at all the junk there!! Ever since I quit smoking in May, I tend to find myself bored and picking at food. I’m not hungry. Just bored I think…..
